If we were allowed to have a second wife, I would ask Sam to marry Barefoot Contessa on the Food Network. Love her food.

Anyway, I’m finally able to use my Beaba that I got as a shower gift. It’s so much fun to make Bella’s food – and even when I go back to work it’s going to save us a ton of money and time. I won’t have to worry about running out of those little glass jars, and in one afternoon I can make a week or more of food for her.

Don’t have a Beaba? A pan and colander work great. I cut up the food into 1/2 inch chunks and steam it until they’re soft. Once the water is boiling it takes about 10-15 mintues to steam, depending on the food. Hard stuff like carrots and sweet potatoes take longer. Strawberries, peas, etc take a shorter amount of time.

Use the water that the veggies/fruits steamed in to puree with the food. You can use a blender or a food processor. The Beaba comes with a blender inside.

Then I freeze it – ice cube trays that are covered and then once frozen toss it into plastic freezer bags – or for things I know we’ll use right away I put them in the fridge. Yesterday I did a few days worth of sweet potatoes.

I’m actually looking for some different freezer trays (I like ice in my water so having them taken up with baby food won’t work long). I’m open to suggestions – maybe some that are flexible and easy to pop the food out of? I’m doing zuchinni later on this week for her.

No time to do steaming? I take a fork and mash up a banana really quick. She loves her ‘nanas so much. Or an avacado – I did this and then found out it’s a 7/8 month food. Oops. She likes them a lot though, and didn’t have any reactions so we kept going on them.
