Getting Rid of the Pacifier

I hated that paci.

HATED IT.

Around a year old. She loved it upside down against her face.

Every night, without fail, we’d suddenly realize it was lost. Somewhere in our home, the green paci attached to a stuffed kitty (or monkey) was gone and no one knew where it was.

Asking Bella resulted in her throwing herself on the floor in despair and bawling for it. Instead of helping us look. Which was helpful.

We even had a place for it in her room but somehow it always ended up gone.

Laundry baskets, Noah’s Ark, a truck, Daddy’s boots, our bed; it was a toss up where we’d find it. I’d march around the house saying awful words about it as I pulled everything apart. [Read more...]

Routines, Poop, that darn Paci, and Baby Names

This week has been INSANE.

Truly.

And I’m loving every minute.

But I’m not going to lie, I am really looking forward to getting past the learning curve of working from home and keeping up two blogs. And finding a picture for each post for Babble.

Killer. Pics for twin anything is killer.

My brain is fried to the max and I try to shut it off at night but it rolls around with post after post and edits them in my head. To all you who run multiple blogs and work and have kids – props. I am in awe.

In other news, Bella’s potty training has been going really well. Day 2 and 3 have been completely accident free. When we are home, she wears pants all day with no diaper and goes pee about 70 times a day to get an M&M. No, um, #2 yet. She saves that for nap and then wakes up hollering that she has a “BIG POO!”

The Potty Training Chronicles – Day 1

Yesterday Bella went pee on the potty.

It was a really big deal here. We’ve been doing some casual (super casual) training for the past few weeks. Basically by training I mean I let her run around either with just pants or a dress on, no diaper, and then she pees. And I explain that pee-pee goes in the potty, she helps take off her clothes (or watches me clean up the small pee) and we go from there. She would want to sit on the toilet every so often, but nothing happened. I wondered what it would take for her to understand what the sensation of peeing in there, or just the act, would be.

Quite honestly? I had no idea what on earth I was doing. And everyone seems to have a different way of training, so it confused me even more. All I knew was we didn’t have the money to spend on cloth trainers and I wasn’t going to start disposables full time now.

So we just bare bottomed it. [Read more...]

The 13 week Twin Ultrasound and Appointment

Monday morning my parents, who had driven 12 hours the night before to make it here, met us at the house so we could all head to the Dr. together for my 13 week ultrasound. I was excited to see them and nervous about the appt – I wanted to make sure the babies were ok.

The tech squeezed us all in the room and I held my breath and said a small prayer as she waved the wand over my stomach – and the flurry of motion that came with it on the screen was reassuring. “Are they ok?” I asked.

She nodded. “Yep, see – two heartbeats, both kicking around. Were you nervous?” I nodded and she smiled. “Everything is fine.”

“Still fraternal?” I said.

“Still fraternal.” [Read more...]
